🔧 Construction of Spiral Wound Gasket

A spiral wound gasket typically consists of three main parts:

• Outer Ring (Centering Ring / Guide Ring):
  Made of carbon steel, it helps in centering the gasket within the flange and prevents overcompression.

• Sealing Element (Spiral Winding):
  The core sealing component made of V-shaped metal strips (usually stainless steel) wound with filler materials like flexible graphite or PTFE. These materials provide excellent sealing performance at high temperatures and pressures.

• Inner Ring:
  Prevents the gasket from buckling inward under pressure. It's crucial for high-pressure applications and protects the sealing element from media turbulence and corrosion.

3. R Type:
